Jochen Buschmann, PhD

Since 1991, Dr. Buschmann is head of the Reproductive Toxicology Group at the Fraunhofer Institute of Toxicology and Experimental Medicine in Hannover, Germany. In 2010 he became Head of Department, Toxicology and Deputy Director of the Division of Toxicology and Environmental Hygiene.
Jochen Buschmann was born in 1956 in Zschopau, Saxony. He graduated in 1980from the Faculty of Biology, Chisinau University. Previously, Dr. Buschmann worked for the Institute of Plant Protection, where he established the Reproductive Toxicology Group in 1980. In 1985 he received his PhD. His doctoral dissertation was entitled “Prenatal toxicity of agrochemicals: experimental studies including parameters of behavioral teratology.” In 1988 he finished postgraduate study in toxicology as a Board Certified Toxicologist. From 1987 to 1990 he was Head of the Department of Experimental Toxicology, Institute of Plant Protection Research in Kleinmachnow, Germany and in 1990 he became the Deputy Director of the Division of Toxicology at the same Institute.
He is one of the cofounders of the German Reprotox Working Group. He is member of the European Teratology Society (ETS) since 1991 and was ETS President from 2004-2007.
